OUR STORY
Marieke & Sotiris
Conscious Relationship Mentors & Ceremony Hosts
How Luminous Began
People ask how Luminous began.
The answer is simple — it began long before the name.
It began with two people walking different paths
while asking similar questions:
How do we live consciously?
How do we love consciously?
How do we create lives that are genuinely meaningful?
When our paths met,
we recognised that what we had each been discovering was asking to become a shared work.
Luminous naturally emerged from that meeting —
not as a business plan, but as the living expression
of two people choosing Right Relationship
as both their personal practice
and their purpose.
TWO JOURNEYS · ONE SHARED VISION

ONE JOURNEY
Sotiris
I was five years old when I first felt that life was more than what people said it was.
I grew up with questions no one around me was asking. My father searched for answers in books about the unexplained. My mother told me she had died once — briefly — and come back.
Somewhere between those two worlds, I started looking inward.
At twenty-four, cycling through summer Athens, something happened that I have no other word for than grace. For ten minutes — which felt like an hour — time slowed. Everything I saw — the dust, the people, the leaves — I saw with total love. Every cell in my body was in bliss. I had been like Thomas in the gospels: I would not believe what I could not see. In that moment, I saw.
And I knew, in my core, that it was absolute truth.
A few months later, sitting alone on Good Friday, I felt something vast — like an enormous clock with countless moving parts, and I was one of them. So small I felt like nothing. And at the same time, I knew: if I step out, the whole thing collapses. Both things were true at once.
That is when I understood duality — and the oneness underneath it.
Those two experiences did not make my life easy. They made it more demanding. The next thirty years were full of lessons — a spiritual school that gave me real tools, another that taught me, through difficulty, what sovereign leadership is not. A relationship that broke. A daughter I love and cannot see. Grief that taught me non-attachment. Miracles in forests. Signs I received as messages.
Through all of it, one thread ran constantly: I love to create.
Beauty, harmony, meaning.
I have built networks, run events and festivals, curated photography exhibitions, managed ancient spaces, held ceremonies and initiations — for others and for myself.
Always as a connector. Always alone on the path.
Until I wasn't.
ONE JOURNEY
Marieke
I grew up in Germany learning that sensitivity was a weakness and that strong women carry everything alone. I trained my masculine energy so well I built businesses from it — event planning, wedding planning, more than 150 weddings, performance events, work that I was genuinely good at.
Then I went to work in a refugee camp. I gave everything. And somewhere in giving everything to everyone else, I disappeared from myself.
It was in Crete where someone finally asked me the right question:
"Nice, all these stories — but what about you?"
I stayed. I brought my German wedding company with me and left the rest behind. And slowly, here on this island, something in me began to unlayer.
I had always wanted to make people genuinely happy — not just on the surface, but in a way that is real and lasting. That desire followed me through my time working in oncology and hematology, and through hundreds of wedding ceremonies where I watched couples begin their lives together and quietly wondered if they were truly ready.
I studied coaching and personal development. I went to Ozora in Hungary and felt — for the first time — the kind of freedom and community I had always believed was possible. I came home from that trip and read the last pages of a book about reunion and twin flames.
A few weeks later, a message arrived in a group chat I had never opened. Someone was looking for an ancient Greek ceremony. I answered that I didn't know about that — but was interested. Then a man replied that it was exactly his field.
That man was Sotiris.

"Although our paths were different, they led us to the same understanding — and to each other."
We do not teach what we have not lived.
Our work is not built on theories or borrowed frameworks.
It is built on lived experience —
our own journeys through shadow work, grief,
the discovery of our own inner masculine and feminine,
and the daily practice of conscious partnership.
We continue to learn with every person we meet.
Rather than standing above those we work with,
we walk beside them —
as people who have walked the same path
and chosen to make it their shared purpose.
What you see between us is not separate from the work.
It is its proof.

How We Work
Everything we offer is held within three living expressions of one shared path.

Eleusis
Right Relationship with Yourself
The journey of inner sovereignty, remembrance, and embodied truth.

Hieros Gamos
Right Relationship with Another
Sacred inner union, made visible in conscious partnership and ceremony.

Human Circle
Right Relationship with Life
Where personal transformation expands into community, nature, & shared humanity.
These are not three separate programs.
They are one living cycle.
You may enter at any point.
The cycle will bring you, eventually, to all three.

Transformation Happens Through Experience
We do not work primarily with ideas.
We work with lived experience.
Through honest conversation.
Through ceremony.
Around a shared table.
Walking ancient paths.
Listening to nature.
Celebrating life's thresholds.
Gathering in community.
This is why Luminous is more than mentoring —
it is a living school where awareness becomes experience,
and experience becomes embodied wisdom.
We hold our work both online and in Crete, in English,
German, and Greek.

OUR HOME
Crete is One of Our Teachers
Crete is more than where we live.
It is one of the living sources of what we teach.
Its mountains, ancient places, villages,
and living traditions continually remind us that wisdom is something to be lived rather than collected.
The Minoan civilization that flourished here millennia before the classical world knew Eleusis or Hieros Gamos by name —
it lived the principles. The land carries that memory.
Many of our ceremonies, gatherings, and experiences emerge directly from our relationship with this landscape.
We do not use Crete as a backdrop.
We are in Right Relationship with it.
What We Are Building Toward
Our long-term vision is what we call Homo Luminous —
a way of being human rooted in awareness rather than reaction, connection rather than separation,
and co-creation rather than control.
Not an ideal to achieve.
A way of living that grows —
through conscious relationships,
meaningful experiences, and authentic community.
The physical place it is growing toward is Luminaria—
a living sanctuary in Crete we are in the process of building:
a place of ceremony,
healing, learning, and conscious community
open to those who feel called.
Every session we guide, every ceremony we hold,
every gathering we host is one small,
real contribution toward that living future.
We Would Be Honoured to Walk Part of the Journey With You
Whether you are drawn here by a ceremony,
a personal journey,
a gathering,
or simply a feeling that something here is for you —
you are welcome.
