One work.
The beginning— Sotiris
I was five years old when I first felt that life was more than what people said it was.
I grew up with questions no one around me was asking. My father searched for answers in books about the unexplained. My mother told me she had died once — briefly — and came back. Somewhere between those two worlds, I started looking inward.
At twenty-four, cycling through summer Athens, something happened that I have no other word for than grace. For ten minutes — which felt like an hour — time slowed down.
Everything I saw — the dust, the people, the leaves, the buses — I saw with total love. Every cell in my body was in bliss. I had been like Thomas in the gospels — I would not believe what I could not see. In that moment, I saw. And I knew, in my core, that it was the absolute truth.
A few months later, sitting alone in a room on Good Friday, I felt something vast — like an enormous clock with countless moving parts, and I was one of them. So small I felt like nothing. And at the same time, I knew: if I step out, the whole thing collapses. Both things were true at once. That is when I understood the coin of two sides — duality — and the oneness underneath it.
Those two experiences did not make my life easy. They made it more demanding. The next thirty years were full of lessons — a spiritual school in my twenties that gave me real tools, another that taught me, through difficulty, what sovereign leadership is not. A relationship that broke. A daughter I love and cannot see. Grief that taught me non-attachment. Miracles in forests. Signs on my body that I received as messages.
Through all of it, one thread ran constantly: I love to create. Beauty, harmony, meaning.
I have built networks, run events and festivals, curated photography exhibitions, managed ancient spaces, held ceremonies and initiations for others and myself.
Always as a connector.
Always alone on the path.
Until I wasn't.
The beginning — Marieke
I grew up in Germany learning that sensitivity was a weakness and that strong women carry everything alone. I trained my masculine energy so well I built businesses from it — event planning, wedding planning, more than 150 weddings, performance events, work that I was genuinely good at.
Then I went to work in a refugee camp. I gave everything. And somewhere in giving everything to everyone else, I disappeared from myself.
It was in Crete where someone finally asked me the right question: "Nice, all these stories — but what about you?"
I stayed. I brought my German wedding company with me and left the rest behind. And slowly, here on this island, something in me began to unlayer.
I had always wanted to make people genuinely happy — not just on the surface, but in a way that is real and lasting. That desire followed me through my time working as a medical assistant in an oncology and hematology practice, and through hundreds of wedding ceremonies where I watched couples begin their lives together and quietly wondered if they were truly ready.
I studied coaching and personal development. I went to Ozora in Hungary and felt — for the first time — the kind of freedom and community I had always believed was possible. I came home from that trip and read the last pages of a book about reunion and twinflames.
A few weeks later, a message arrived in a group chat I had never opened. Someone was looking for an ancient Greek ceremony. I answered that I didn't know about that but was interested. Then a man answered that it was exactly his field.
That man was Sotiris.
The meeting
I did not plan to meet him.
I followed a stomach ache.
A woman who had asked about the ancient Greek ceremony
brought me to a group sitting at a taverna next to the sea —
a chain of small coincidences I no longer call coincidences.
When I arrived at Sotiris's home days later,
I got out of the car, saw him, hugged him
— and felt a peace I had never felt before.
Like something recognised something.
That same day we did our first ceremony together under an olive tree.
We were pillars of light.
Later, he crowned me as his woman inside a 3,000-year-old olive tree.
Two days after we met, we were together.
Two months later, I moved here.
We have not spent a single day apart since.
What we found in each other was not just partnership.
It was the other half of a work neither of us could complete alone.
Sotiris had received, before we met,
an inner message to work with the balance
of masculine and feminine energies.
In a business coaching session, Marieke had been told
that she might be on Earth to bring exactly that balance —
and in a Theta Healing session, she saw her two brain hemispheres
— masculine and feminine —
unite into one shining whole.
We arrived at the same place from opposite directions.
What Luminous is
Luminous School of Creation is what happened when our two paths became one.
The name Luminous has been with Sotiris for years — through photography projects, light exhibitions, the Luminous Point. For us it holds the oldest meaning: light as the source of consciousness. The truth that lives in each person, waiting to be remembered.
We call it a School in the ancient Greek sense — Σχολή. Not a place of instruction, but a space of inquiry, leisure, and being together. A place where you are not told what to think, but given room to think more clearly.
And Creation — because that is what becomes possible when people reconnect with themselves. Not just making things. Creating their lives, their relationships, their communities, with intention and joy.
We work in Crete, in the Apokoronas region of western Crete, in a landscape that has been inhabited for thousands of years.
This place is not a backdrop to what we do. It is part of the work. The ancient paths, the olive groves, the Minoan sites, the villages where people still know each other — all of it holds something that helps people remember.
We offer ceremonies for couples who want their union to mean something.
Experiences in this landscape for people who want to feel alive and present. Sessions and containers for individuals and couples doing real inner work.
And we hold, in the background of everything, a larger vision: a space — Luminopolis — where healing, creativity, learning, and joy happen together as a way of living, not as products to consume.
That vision is still growing.
But it is already real in every ceremony we hold, every treasure hunt we lead, every session where something shifts.
How we work
We do not lead from hierarchy. We hold space.
We believe sovereign people do not need to be told what to do —
they need room to find their own clarity.
Our role is to facilitate, to accompany, to hold a frequency steady enough
that what needs to emerge can emerge.
Between us, we embody the balance we speak about.
Sotiris brings the ancient, the structural, the initiatory —
the lineage of Minoan and Greek ritual practice.
Marieke brings the ceremonial, the warm, the precise —
the experience of holding more than 100 weddings
and knowing the difference
between a ceremony that is performed and one that is truly held.
Together, we work in English, German, and Greek.
We serve couples, individuals, retreat leaders, and communities —
in Crete and online, across Europe and beyond.
We are also the translators between worlds.
Between the ancient and the present.
Between the Greek and the German.
Between the depth of inner work and the lightness of a treasure hunt
through village paths in the afternoon sun.
The people we want to meet

A larger intention
Everything we do points toward something larger.
Starting on Wednesday, 27th of May, we open the Inner Human Circle —
a weekly gathering in our garden in Apokoronas.
No tickets. No fixed program.
Just people meeting in real presence, doing genuine inner work together.
We ask for a donation, nothing more.
Because we believe this work belongs to everyone.
Our online programmes — Eleusis and Hieros Gamos — are offered freely.
Not as a gesture, but as a conviction:
the remembrance of who we are cannot be behind a paywall.
What we are building is a living community —
an inner circle
strong enough in its own sovereignty to meet the outer world with clarity and care.
A place where people find each other, where life organises itself in balance and collaboration,
where strength comes not from hierarchy but from genuine connection.
We call it Luminous Polis.
It begins in a garden in Crete. It grows outward from there.
